Daniel Morales is director of public affairs and government relations for Walmart Stores Inc. in south Texas. Prior to that he was director of communications and community relations for Walmart Public Affairs, covering an 11-state region.
Daniel was a political appointee under President George W. Bush in Washington, D.C., where he served at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services as Secretary Tommy Thompson’s outreach coordinator and acting communications director for the Office of Public Health and Science. Daniel also worked at the U.S. Department of Labor, where he was Spanish spokesperson and Hispanic liaison to Secretary Elaine Chao.
Daniel was a social worker with the Community Action Division of the city of San Antonio, Texas, where he helped those in need through Community Development Block Grant allocations.
Originally from Brownsville, Texas, Daniel has a master’s degree in public service administration from the George Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio.
Daniel serves on several nonprofit organization boards and committees. He’s on the Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans and Parents Step Ahead boards of directors, and chairs the Executive Advisory Board for La Camara de Empresarios Latinos de Houston as well as the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce Public Policy Advisory Committee.
